What the court said
The court described Article 3-bis as excluding, from the outset, the effects of the earlier rules for people born abroad with another citizenship, rather than revoking a citizenship already officially recognized. Source: Ruling 63/2026
What it means for you
The 2025 conditions remain the law: unless you applied by the March 27, 2025 cutoff, you generally need a parent or grandparent who holds or held only Italian citizenship, or a parent with two years' residence in Italy before your birth. Source: esteri.it See the Italy guide.
